A little Oomph goes a long way

So I was perusing my usual design blogs this morning and came across a post about the NYIGF (New York International Gift Fair) at Habitually Chic . Heather posted about this new company called Oomph and OMG I am in LOVE with everything, especially these Tini's!
Perfect for setting you mar-"tini" on (sorry - i couldnt resist)! The tables are available in 15 stock colors, all in a durable high gloss lacquered finish. Lots of choices for tops: glass, mirror, treated fabric, zinc, cooper, stainless inserts and our signature back painted glass. For those of you who must - custom colors available. Are you noticing the textured tops - linen, raffia!

How fun would this be as a coffee table paired with a tan sofa and some pink accents.
As if their tables didnt add enough "oomph" - check out their upholstery and pillows too!

What I am loving: coral and blue

On my most recent trip to Homegoods, the one in Bedford, NH, these placemats caught my eye. They were located in the kitchen section with the tablecloths and napkins. These placemats, are way too cute and intricate to eat food on....I snagged them and pseudo framed them, so you could see that all your wall decor does not have to be found in the "wall decor" section!

Here they are as placemats.

Can you see the intricate beadwork on these?

Throw a white frame around it and you have instant artwork! Once I had these at home, I started to mentally design a room around them. Envision an entryway in a beach house.....doesnt this console from Wisteria remind you of driftwood? I love the rustic-ness of it.
I would throw a jute boucle rug with it - something like these from West Elm. I have the gray one in my living room at home, and its easy to clean and better yet, its reversible!

Next to the console, I would put a pair of these white bamboo chairs, one on each side so you could sit and take off your shoes. I'd probably switch the fabric on this to something like this.

Hanging above this beachy-goodness I can totally see this coral chandelier from 1st dibs.

Or better yet this ceiling mount bamboo fixture from Circa Lighting.

And if all these coral beachyness wasnt enough...check out some rooms done in this combo by other designers! So fresh and clean!

Painted floors

I have been noticing a fresh new take on the hardwood floor. I love this idea of painting a pattern in your hardwood floor, whatever room it may be.

This diamond patten in a long narrow hallway is a perfect solution to draw your eye down the hallway. I love how there is a no fuss element to this hallway treatment. Clean-up is easy.

Look at the dimension that this brown diagonal stripe gives this room.

I feel like this graphic pattern above would be adorable in a sunroom or playroom, with fun vibrant colors.

This picture above is from a nursery. I think this technique could really add a level of whimsy to your space.

In the July/August issue of Southern Accents, designer Janie Molster is featured and here's what she has to say about painted floors: "If prepared correctly they are very durable for high traffic. Sand the floors as if they were being refinished. My favorite paint is Benjamin Moore Alkyd Porch and Floor Enamel...if you experience wear after awhile a fresh coat will bring it back to life in one day with no sanding."
If you can take your eyes off the gorgeous fuschia and white color combo you will notice the subtle painted floor. Doesnt this technique make it look like there is actually rug?!

Check out Janie's website - she is quite talented!

I just learned about the store Henry Road through the One Kings Lane sale today. I immediately went to their website and found all kinds of funky, fabulous furniture, fabrics, pillows, lampshades....

They even have tablecloths. How stickin' cute!?

For all the Bostonians, these goods can be found at a cute store called Twist in Cohasset or order online! Enjoy.

Mouth dropping lamps

I was in NH for Memorial Day wknd, at my husbands parents in Bedford. Every single time I am up there, I have a ritual of hitting the Home Goods and Marshalls, because I am sure to find something. I WISH I needed a lamp or 10 for my house, because they had a million fabulous lamps! Check them out:

Dont these white ceramic lamps remind you of the Christopher Spitzmiller ceramic beauties!

The lamp on the left is the Meri Table Lamp from Oly - but dont you think the lamp from Homegoods on the right could totally be used for the same application?
I know these stores can be hit or miss - but when you hit - you really really hit!
